Anyone (and there are a lot of them) who loves Game of Thrones – the lavish and gritty television drama is going to find a lot to like about Game of Thrones online slot.
Firstly – it’s lavish. It looks great, with graphics that will really snag you!
The second thing is the soundtrack. I’m no big fan of the weird noises some online slots emit, but I have to confess to being pretty impressed with this game’s effects and music, which while it’s not exactly the television theme, is very close to it.
Each win is accompanied by a very orchestral phrase that brings the game to life, but the real fun starts if you land a couple of thrones in the first two or three reel, as then it all goes into drama overdrive as you wait for the all-important third throne to fall into place to give you a free spin bonus and the chance of a big money prize to go with it.

Game of Thrones Features.
The opening screen is an image of the Throne itself, all bristly swords and moody lighting, set in a dark stone room.
From there you are taken on to the playing screen, which is no less detailed.
The symbols on this 5 reel game have been pulled right off your television and into the game…or should I say Game.
The things to watch for are the sigils: round plaques that bear the seals of the ‘families’ or ‘clans’ that populate the world in which Game of Thrones is set. Pull up three or more of one seal (counting from the left) and you’ll be counting your winnings. Unfortunately, this might not take you long, as most wins are less than stellar!
The sigils are heavily outnumbered by carved letters depicting the jack through to the ace, and which will deliver a small pay out if you can line three or more up on one of the lines.
On my iPad I was repeatedly dumped out mid-game, and frequently found the game frozen for upwards of 30 seconds at a time, while on my phone I failed to get a smooth animation at any point, and as with my tablet I found myself staring at a Google home page when I had only moments before been praying for a throne or two to help me boost my flagging spirits…and bank!
I was playing the 15 win line version, but there’s also a Game of Thrones mobile slot with 243 wining lines, which plays exactly the same as its little brother, but of course for higher stakes and in theory a correspondingly higher number of wins and payouts.
I played both in order to bring you this Game of Thrones slot review – never let it be said that I skimped on the research – and found that I preferred the 15 line version.
Both are a bit stingy with their payouts in my experience, so I felt I was getting more for my money with the 15 line slot, but you may view things differently.

Then there’s the Throne itself, which crops up rather less often than I would like. It’s the same image as on the opening screen, but when you see it spinning on the reels of this game you might perhaps take it for a grumpy porcupine. However, even porcupines are welcome when three of them bring you free spins and the potential for a big win!
In fact, even getting two of them will pay a scatter bonus, though this varies in value from your stake up to three times your stake in my experience.
I could tell you for sure whether that’s the limit of the bonus, but sadly, playing on my iPad Air and with a good internet connection I nonetheless couldn’t track down a pay table.
There was a settings page, and four more glossy Throne images, but no pay table or other information.
As I seemed to be lacking all the vital info on my iPad, I turned to my Samsung Galaxy 5 mini, and tracked down the Game of Thrones mobile game on that.
I found the pay tables, and I can confirm that they’re just as pretty as the playing area, but sadly I think the game was a bit too rich for my phone, as the performance was slow and very jumpy…and it didn’t seem to be any more generous than when I played the mobile game on my tablet.
There’s a wild card: the Game of Thrones symbol itself, which stands in for any other symbol except for the throne, so no wild card instigated bonuses I’m afraid. The good news is that the wild card is stacked on all five reels, so the chances of bringing up five of a kind are increased hugely.
Indeed my biggest single win came by way of three wild cards and two of the same sigils.
If you DO manage to hit a bonus – three or more Throne symbols in view – then the good news is that it can be repeated if your free spins throw up another three thrones.
After playing Game of Thrones online slot for a while I came to the conclusion that here was a game that had sacrificed playability (at least in the mobile version) for gloss y graphics and great sound.
